So after my last post talking about vintage cabbage rose table cards, I got to thinking about the male wedding guest. Now, he may be very enlightened or he may care diddly squat about the fact that he has a flower on his guest card - if he's a real gentleman he'll give it to his female friend/wife or, you know, whatever. But I just thought it might be interesting if the guys on your guest list had something a little more manly for their table/escort card, yet something that was fitting in with your vintage-y theme. How about a more stylized flower in a more sturdy fabric? Or how about a bow-tie - something old-fashioned yet sophisticated.
I've made up a couple of prototype table/guest cards as you can see below( the silky flower for the ladies is in the middle). These are made out of eco-friendly felt, and fastened with a yellow tack. I'm sure I could fashion them out of any material that's a little sturdier - such as a cotton twill or linen. And they could be attached differently - either with glue, or some kind of pin.
As you see, I also added a table number to one of the tags just in case you were using them as escort cards, not just table cards. What's the difference, you might ask? An escort card is something you pick up before you go to your table and will let you know what table a person is sitting at - sort of "escorts" you to your table. Your wedding co-ordinator - such as the lovely ladies at AYNIL - will lay them out in alphabetical order all nicely for your guests, on a special table.
If it's a "table card", it usually just has the guest name and is already placed at the table. You'll probably have a sign or a chart at the cocktail hour where the guests will find their name and their table assignment.
